Take note from a wise man:
“Abandoning the taking of what is not given, abstaining from it, the recluse Gautama lives as one who takes only what is given, who waits for it to be given; not by stealing he lives with Self become pure.”
“Abandon what is wrong. It is possible to abandon it. Were it not possible to abandon what is wrong, I would not say: Abandon it. But because it is possible, therefore I say: Abandon what is wrong.”
“He, having obtained mastery of self, abandons wrong, makes right become, abandons what is blameworthy, makes what is blameless become; he guards the pure Self. This is called mastery of self.”
“When a fool does evil work, he forgets that he is lighting a fire
wherein he must burn one day.”
“He should desire to pursue neither extremes,
committing nothing that Self would blame.”
